For a file to work effectively, it must be harder than the steel it cuts. This is the basic principle of filing: if both materials have similar hardness, the file will slide without cutting and wear out quickly without results.
This 250 mm PFERD round smooth file is designed to work on hardened steels between 57 and 62 HRC, which corresponds to the hardness range of the tools we offer (axes, sickles, billhooks, hoes). It is particularly suited for restoring an edge in curved areas, deburring holes, or adjusting internal shapes without removing too much material.
