This versatile all-stainless-steel manual soil auger is designed to check soil moisture and structure. With a total length of one metre, it offers a usable sampling length of 870 mm, which lets you look much deeper into the soil than the 350 and 650 mm versions in our range. Its outer diameter is 27 mm. It consists of a slotted tube, which shows the soil core taken, and a T-handle.

It is made in our workshop in Moyrazès (Aveyron), entirely in stainless steel, with lifetime-guaranteed welds. Farmers use it to probe their fields, and it is also used to check golf greens and for bailiff soil surveys.

Sold individually.

  • ✅ Lifetime-guaranteed welds, for a tool built to last;
  • ✅ A versatile tool, used both to check soil moisture and to assess soil structure;

Use

  • Choose where to take the sample, then push the auger into the ground to the depth you want, within its usable sampling length of 870 mm;
  • Pull the tool out, then look at the soil core visible in the slot to judge the moisture and structure of the soil;
  • Repeat the sampling at several points of the field or green to compare the results;
  • Choose the one-metre version for deep sampling, and a shorter version (350 or 650 mm) when the depth to check is shallower.

Maintenance

  • Rinse the auger with clean water after each use to remove the soil;
  • Dry it before putting it away;
  • Store it in a dry place.
