The La Fabriculture manual stainless steel auger lets you extract a soil core to check its structure, texture and moisture at depth. Handmade in our workshop in Moyrazès, Aveyron, it is designed for both professional use and one-off expert assessments.

Whether you need to assess a plot's agronomic quality, check the moisture and composition of a golf green, or carry out a bailiff's soil survey, this auger delivers a clean, representative sample without machinery or excessive effort.

Advantages

  • Fully stainless steel construction: resists corrosion and stands up to repeated field use;
  • Lifetime weld warranty, for a durable and repairable tool;
  • Three sampling lengths available (350, 650 and 900 mm), to match the sampling depth to your actual needs;
  • Stainless steel L-shaped extractor included, to release the soil core from the tube without damaging it;
  • 300 mm handle designed for controlled coring, including across multiple points on the same plot.

Use

  • Push the auger vertically into the soil, applying steady pressure;
  • Rotate the tool to detach the soil core at the required depth;
  • Withdraw the tool while keeping the sample in the tube;
  • Use the L-shaped extractor to release the core without deforming it;
  • Observe the soil's structure, colour and moisture across the full sampled height;
  • Repeat at several points across the plot for a representative diagnosis.

Maintenance

  • Rinse the auger with clean water after each use to remove soil residue;
  • Dry the tube and handle thoroughly before storing, to prevent build-up;
  • Store the tool away from moisture between uses.

FAQ

Which auger length should I choose for my use?

The 350 mm length (600 mm tool) suits a quick surface check. The 650 mm length (950 mm tool) reveals deeper soil horizons. The 900 mm length (1000 mm tool) is recommended for the most thorough surveys, for example on large agricultural plots or expert assessments requiring in-depth analysis.

Is this auger suitable for testing a golf green?

Yes, the auger is used by some golf course maintenance professionals to check the structure and moisture of the substrate at depth, helping to adjust irrigation and green upkeep.

Can this auger be used for a bailiff's soil survey?

Yes, the auger provides a representative soil sample, useful for example in surveys related to land condition. It does not replace a laboratory analysis where one is required for the procedure.

How do I remove the soil core from the tube?

Each auger comes with a stainless steel L-shaped extractor, designed to gently push the core out of the tube without crushing it.

Is the weld covered by warranty?

Yes, the welds on our tools carry a lifetime warranty and are repaired free of charge if needed.
