The long-tine Odinette is the "deep" version of our artisan grelinette. Its tines reach 30 cm into the soil — compared to 24 cm on the standard model — making it ideal for ground that has been severely compacted by machinery, wet winters or extended periods without cultivation, all without turning the soil or disturbing soil life.

Made in our workshop in Moyrazès (Aveyron) from reinforced hardened steel, it is available with 5, 7 or 8 tines. The 3, 4 and 6-tine versions can be made to order: contact us for a quote.

Advantages

✅ Deep loosening to 30 cm, ideal for heavily compacted, clay or dense soils;
✅ No soil turning: natural structure and soil life are preserved, in line with permaculture principles;
✅ Available in 3 catalogue widths (5, 7, 8 tines) and made to order from 3 to 8 tines;
✅ Hardened steel tines with reinforcements, designed to withstand the significant stresses of deep cultivation;
✅ A genuine alternative to the rotary tiller on clay or severely compacted ground: no fuel, no noise, no disruption to soil structure;
✅ Handcrafted in the Aveyron, Made in France.

How to use

  • Position the Odinette on the area to be worked, with the tines perpendicular to the rows;
  • Push the tines firmly into the soil using your foot;
  • Pull the handles towards you in a lever action to lift and aerate the soil deeply without turning it;
  • Step back and repeat until the whole surface is covered. Overlapping passes will produce even better decompaction;
  • Particularly effective on clay, compacted or hard soils, or after a long period without cultivation;
  • Also suitable for breaking in a new kitchen garden on previously uncultivated ground.

Care and maintenance

  • After each use, clean the tines with a wire brush or rinse with water to remove soil residue;
  • Apply a light coat of linseed oil to metal parts to prevent rust;
  • Store the tool in a dry place, away from damp;
  • If a tine bends or breaks, long replacement tines (30 cm useful length) are available separately.

⚠️ Weld warranty: 2 years. Long tines place significantly greater mechanical stress on the welds than standard tines. The 2-year warranty specifically covers the welds, which are the most stressed component during deep soil work.

FAQ

What is the difference between the standard Odinette and the long-tine version?

The long-tine Odinette works to a useful depth of 30 cm, compared to 24 cm for the standard model. This difference is significant on heavily compacted or clay soils, where deeper aeration durably improves soil structure, water circulation and microbial activity.

Why is the weld warranty limited to 2 years?

Long tines place significantly greater mechanical stress on the welds than standard tines, particularly in very hard or stony ground. The 2-year weld warranty reflects this physical reality while covering normal use of the tool.

Is the long-tine Odinette suitable for all soil types?

It is particularly effective on clay, compacted or very hard soils. On light or sandy soils, the standard model is generally sufficient. On ground with large stones or significant obstacles at depth, we recommend testing a small area first.

Are replacement tines available for this model?

Yes. Long replacement tines (30 cm useful length) are specifically available for the long-tine Odinette. If a tine bends or breaks, they allow you to restore full performance without replacing the whole tool.
