Indicating a wrong direction on a trail is just as important as marking the right way — this is the pictogram that prevents route errors and keeps hikers safe. This 1.5 mm galvanised steel "wrong way" marking stencil is designed for local authorities, hiking associations and path maintenance professionals who want clean, precise and lasting marks — session after session.
Its galvanised steel rigidity is its main advantage: unlike plastic stencils that warp with use, this stencil lies perfectly flat against the surface, even on irregular substrates — tree bark, stone, wooden or metal posts. The result: clean marking with no bleed. It resists corrosion and can be used and cleaned hundreds of times. Used with spray paint (not included), it is easy to carry in the field thanks to its compact size.

FAQ
What is the difference between the "wrong way" stencil and the main trail marking stencil?
The main trail marking stencil reproduces the continuity pictogram — it tells the hiker they are on the right path. The "wrong way" stencil reproduces the prohibition pictogram — it indicates a route that must not be taken. Both are complementary and necessary for a complete marking system in line with the FFR charter.
Why choose a galvanised steel stencil over a plastic one?
A plastic stencil warps with use, particularly under spray pressure or with certain solvents. 1.5 mm galvanised steel stays perfectly rigid and flat regardless of how often it is used. It resists solvents, repeated cleaning and difficult outdoor conditions. Over a long and intensive period of use, it is a far more cost-effective investment.
Does this stencil comply with French Hiking Federation (FFR) marking standards?
The stencil is designed to match the marking pictograms used on GR® and PR trails. For any official marking project, refer to the FFR technical and graphic charter, which specifies the required dimensions, colours and pictograms by trail type.
Is this stencil available made to measure or in other pictograms?
